Question by Jus D: my dog has killed 6 sewer rats in the past year, will it affect his health?
He seems okay now, happy and all that. Though he sheds a lot. He won’t get rabies will he? What should I do after he kills another one of those nasty rats?
T.M. yes, he’s had his annual shots
mar 1, he doesn’t eat it, only kills it. he’s kinda picky about his food.

If your dog is up to date on ALL ohf his shots he / she should be ok
If he isn’t I’d worry& send him in to the vets for a check up & shots to get him up to date – try to keep him away from the rats area & temptations out of your yard that may intice rats to visit where your dog is

Question by wiredandready: need ANSWERS about 11 year old dog’s health please?
hello,
me and my family are very sad about our 11 year old dogs health.
his name is Jellybean. he is a half lab and half pitbull, great dog. for the past two weeks he has been rubbing his eyes against furniture and the carpets in the house until the fur is rubbed off and they are raw and very swollen, almost shut. he has bitten the tops of his paws red until the fur has come off in patches there. we took him to the vet and the they said he has bad allergies and possibly mites (found out by scraping the bottom of his paws) — does this sound like allgeries or mites to any dog experts?
today he had 2 seizure type incidents where he was shaking and fell out. we rushed him to vet again and they gave him more medicine. his eyes in his head are glassy, grayish, almost rolled back in his head from all the rubbing he had been doing. since they give him meds today he has stopped rubbing his eyes and biting his paws but is laying around looking pitiful with swollen eyes he can barely see out of. now the doc says it could be cataracts in both eyes! does this sound like that also? tomm. morning he has to go for blood work b/c we failed to take his muzzle with us today (we were in a rush). sigh. very sad and just wondering if anyone has any experiences like this….
thank you.
Is he likely to die from mites??
He has never had a seizure before.
He eats a food called “Wellness for Seniors.”

Your vet is right, the dog just has mites.

I have a 10 year old cat named Angelo. He is about 18 pounds, but not really fat… he’s been the same size since age 2. The vet always says he is healthy and I keep him indoors so I only take him for shots every 2 years. I also have 2 female cats, who are both up to date on shots (more recent adoptions). About a month ago I noticed a small sore on the outer lower corner of his mouth, closer to the chin. It looks like a rugburn on a human would. It’s not swollen, it doesn’t look infected, mostly just dried blood, and not even a lot of that. I thought he got in a fight with one of the girls, although they are declawed in front. I’ve noticed that the sore is slightly bigger and now has spread under his chin – not to the mouth or gums, though. No wounds or punctures, again just dried blood. I clean it with warm water. I haven’t seen him eating dry food lately, but he will eat wet food. He also seems to have lost a few pounds. I’m taking him to the vet next week. Any ideas?
Hi again – no change in food or toys. I know he’s not happy about the most recent addition to the family though.
