MY COUSIN HAS HAD HER CHIHUAHUA FOR 8 YEARS. THE DOG HAS NEVER HAD ANY HEALTH PROBLEMS. THEN ON SATURDAY THE DOG STARTED SCRATCHING REALLY BAD. MY COUSIN GAVE HER A BATH THINKING SHE HAD GOTTEN INTO SOMETHING IN THE GRASS THAT WAS IRRITATING HER. THE BATH DID NOT HELP. ON SUNDAY WHEN SHE WOKE UP THE DOG WAS LITERALLY PANTING FROM WEARING HER SELF OUT SCRATCHING SO BAD. WHEN MY COUSIN RETURNED HOME FROM CHURCH THE DOG WAS DEAD. THE ONLY SYMPTOM WAS HER SCRATCHING. CAN YOU GIVE ANY ADVICE AS TO WHAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED THIS?

My dog follows me around everywhere…everywhere. She is very fearfull of strangers…she will go and try to hide under my legs untill I say It’s okay. She understands that believe it or not. She will also send off some kind of signal/bark( I think it’s a go and attack/get em bark) when someone comes to the door. That gets my rottie (which is very old and can’t see too well) up in a stir. Now he has been know to get aggresive which is bad. He went through training but when she barks like that I think some of the training goes out the window.
What can I do to make her less fearful and stop sending off that attack bark? She fears almost everything…which is not good for her health. What can I do. I have almost completly stopped her from barking when someone comes to the door but…that doesn’t solve the problem of her being fearful. It just stops the barking..for the most part.
What are all the signs that she is being fearful so I can tell her I don’t approve. Help.
