Question by Kelly C: Please help- Cool dog science project topic & good way to learn French?
I need a good topic for dog health. How to do dog CPR? Different bone fractures? ANYTHING!
Also, I need to find a way to learn french (Cheap and easy!)

Answer by Sharyn I’ll try to answer both questions – very different!
For dog health, it would be interesting to talk about the health issues in very tiny dogs. My aunt had a teacup poodle which had all sorts of problems that bigger dogs don’t normally have. The poor thing had a terrible bone fracture just from sliding across a wood floor and hitting a dresser.
For French, you need to think about why you are learning it, when/where you will speak it, and your favorite way to learn. There’s usually a class at a local college available, but you’re tied to their time schedule. There are lots of different programs for learning online, through software, or audio. It depends also on your budget. The best programs combine audio, visual (pictures and video), written words, and speech practice. There are also some websites online where you can learn a little French for free, which is a good way to get a taste of the language, but it won’t get you that far.
A few good French language courses to look at are Tell Me More French, Fluenz French, Rocket French (but there’s no visual), and Instant Immersion French (cheapest, but I haven’t tried it yet so I don’t know how good it is). Rosetta Stone is probably the most well-know, but overpriced in my opinion. Just don’t buy any program unless it has some kind of money-back guarantee.
Bonne chance!

Question by Blondie19: Please help me, I need advice on the health of my dog!?
I have a 1 1/2 year old Golden Retriver named Luke, and he is an awseome, loving boy, but he is severly fat. He only gets 2 cups of dog food a day (1 in the morning & 1 at night) but he is still a big boy. He now weighs about 108 lbs and I’m worried, I think it may be his thyroid, but i’m hoping thats not the case! but I don’t know if he is really overwieght or he is just a really big dog??

Question by wiredandready: need ANSWERS about 11 year old dog’s health please?
hello,
me and my family are very sad about our 11 year old dogs health. his name is Jellybean. he is a half lab and half pitbull, great dog. for the past two weeks he has been rubbing his eyes against furniture and the carpets in the house until the fur is rubbed off and they are raw and very swollen, almost shut. he has bitten the tops of his paws red until the fur has come off in patches there. we took him to the vet and the they said he has bad allergies and possibly mites (found out by scraping the bottom of his paws) — does this sound like allgeries or mites to any dog experts?
today he had 2 seizure type incidents where he was shaking and fell out. we rushed him to vet again and they gave him more medicine. his eyes in his head are glassy, grayish, almost rolled back in his head from all the rubbing he had been doing. since they give him meds today he has stopped rubbing his eyes and biting his paws but is laying around looking pitiful with swollen eyes he can barely see out of. now the doc says it could be cataracts in both eyes! does this sound like that also? tomm. morning he has to go for blood work b/c we failed to take his muzzle with us today (we were in a rush). sigh. very sad and just wondering if anyone has any experiences like this….
thank you.
Is he likely to die from mites??
He has never had a seizure before.
He eats a food called “Wellness for Seniors.”

okay so at first we thought it was age, since she.s like 12 or so years old. but it all happened within a week, so we.re wondering if she has an illness
she used to be a fatty, weighing in at around 10-12 pounds. within around two weeks she.s down to 8 pounds. she rarely eats anymore. she used to go bonkers when mom ate string cheese && cry for some, but now she doesn.t even look at us when we eat it. i started giving her wet food since apparently it.s supposed to be better for her. i.m nervous that this could be the cause so i stopped, but she wouldn.t eat any dry food. she.ll only eat friskies indoor treats for some reason.
she also has a lot of leg pain && weakness. she doesn.t like when we hold her anymore because it hurts her legs. she doesn.t jump on anything, && she.s always laying down
so basically, it started with joint pain months ago, like something old cats go through, then she stopped eating as much && rarely walks around. are there any obvious cat problems that have these symptoms? why did it all happen so quickly? i.m so scared. she.s been my best friend since i was three && a half. i.m so scared of losing her. i don.t know what to do. we.re going to take her to the vet, but i want to know now. please help me, && give me any tips to do for her in the meantime.
