I just adopted a beautiful lilac pt siamese mix approx 5 mos old. So far he is just wonderful. He is actually almost more like a dog than a cat. He runs up and almost headbutts your hand so that you will pet him and wants to be touched alllllll the time…hence I knew in the first 5 seconds I wanted to take him home. I am overly joyous about this since I am more of a dog person than a cat person (husband likes the cats) but he seems to get VERY VERY VERY affectionate at night. He came from a foster home of an agency I have worked with before that treats their animals spectacularly and he was not cooped up in a cage. We let him in our room at night (he has access to the things he needs) because our existing cat hasn’t really accepted him yet and I don’t want to leave him out to get in fights. Now, he mostly does this to me. I think he was taken too early from his mother perhaps…but all of a sudden he roams up and down the bed rubbing his head all over me and wanting to sit as close to me, usually my face, as possible. Last night he even put his nose UP my nose trying to get close. I’m thinking…no wonder new moms freak out about newborns being smothered! He kneeds me all night roaming and rubbing and licking and purring up a storm. It’s cute to a pt but then I end up having 3 hrs of sleep. Luckily he will just conk out (usually curled up in a ball right ontop of me with at least one paw having to touch my face). I am not an avid cat person so this may be more usual, but is this something he will outgrow or die down? He is already checked out by the vet and up to date on everything, and he plays just like any other cat so I don’t think he has any health or psycho issues. He is not neutered yet so perhaps this has something to do with it? I just want to know if I should just be happy he loves me like this (and get used to not sleeping) or if this is something that will become a problem/stay the same if I don’t correct it. I can always use the advice thanks guys!
