I have a 13 year old black lab. Despite being about 10lbs overweight, he seems to be in very good shape. However, he has been drinking about 5 times the amount of water that he usually does in the summer time, and we are worried that this could possibly mean he has something wrong with him.

Dog health, dry nose, older dog, whY ? read below please?

My 12 yr old shistzu who seems to have a very healthy body except for losing sight and deaf and going into dementia, but she has a dry nose and seems to be more disoriented. I have very little money, so I thought I’d come here first. She is eating and drinking and running in the park ?
I did take her to the vet and the nose was not an issue, but she had lost some weight and the vet told me what to watch for, so now everyone is better and just knowing what to watch for is great !! thanks for the one answer. WEndy

Are there any health benefits in fixing an older female dog?

Forgive me for forgeting which term it is, spay or neuter. She’s older, very small as she’s a chiuhaha and a total indoor dog. The only obvious advantage that I can see is not having to deal with her ‘cycle’.
So is there any advantage to her health, in the future?

Why Would A Housebroken Older Dog Suddenly Start Pottying On The Carpets?

My dog is about 63 years old, in good health, and is housebroken. We’ve had her for 5 years with no problems and we take her out side for bathroom breaks every couple hours, but in the past two weeks she potties on the carpets frequently. Not a diarrhea problem either. Any suggestions on how to stop this habit of hers?

Can An Older Dog Still Be Trained?

I have a 9-Month old mutt named bella. I had trouble training her after I got her when she was younger doe to my own health problems, so I gave up. Now I’m ready to train her, but I feel like she isn’t learning as well because she has gone so long without being trained and doesn’t understand. So anyways, is it still possible to train her and what would be the best techniques?

Older Cat Chilly In This Fall Weather..?

I have 3 indoor kitties, one is older (around 13yrs). Shes in great health and very active although in this cooler weather i find her always curled up looking chilly so ive been leaving a heating pad on medium heat out for her with a blanket over it, she LOVES it and often all 3 of them share it by the fireplace. At night, i leave it on the pillow next to me for bedtime, where she always sleeps. It is electric obviously, and i keep an eye on it (its unplugged whenever i leave). It seems to make a big difference for her, so im sure lots of older cats in this cool weather would enjoy it Does anyone know of any problems with doing this? Thanks.

Does Your Older Cat Do This?

I have a 13 year old spayed female long haired ragdoll cat that apparently has taken a dislike to the bathroom rug. She rips at it all the time, urinates on it, wads it up at least 6 times a day and even screams at it during the night. I have washed it repeatedly with all types of cleaners and she still does it. Do I need to just throw it out? WHY does she do this? What would be the reason? It is nutty behavior and is it a sign of a problem she may have? She shares the house with two other cats and they have all been together for all of their lives. She seems to be in good health.

Older Cat Verses New Dog?

I have an older cat. lets be real… she is almost 11 years old. my problem with her is…she has been staying in one of the rooms in my apartment… food water bed and litter pan in there. she is long hair so i constantly have to clean up her hair. I noticed she is losing her teeth… she is missing about 4 now… i have found pee stains on the carpet that were not there before. (and poo piles) So i think she is losing her control in those areas. When i clean the room if i dont lock her in the bathroom (cause it has tile and it is cool and dark) she urinates herself and walks around crying… I dont wanna put her down till she tells me she is ready. she has a hacking problem… she hacks till she throws up sometimes… its not a hair ball… its actually puke. I am feeding her Eukenuba Mature Care. Hair ball meds and she is bathed once a month… combed out once a week. Anyone have an idea i could try to calm this? vet says perfect health for 11.. she also has no meow! IDEAS PLZ!

My family cat is 15 years old and in pretty good health. But my mom has become really allergic to her and it’s become quite the problem with her living here. I want to be able to find a no-kill shelter in Louisville, KY that might take her. Anyone know of any such place?

Did This Older Cat Come Home For Good?

14 years ago my mother in law’s cat had a litter of kittens. She kept 2 of the litter. One of them left at about 5 months old and returned 3 months later. MIL had her spayed and she left again. For the past 13 years this cat has left and returned a few months later always looking well. A month ago she returned again but looked very tired and run down. She’s been inside this go around but MIL says she’s acting antzy like she’s ready to leave again. She wants to keep her inside because she’s afraid she won’t come back again. The vet found no obvious health problems other than bad teeth which she had cleaned. We don’t think she has another family because MIL asked around the first few times she left and nobody had seen her for miles. Should she let her go since this has been her way of life for so long? She stayed longer this time than any other before wanting to leave.
