I was at a pet co earlier picking up some supplies for my year old cat when I walked over the rescued section. There was a 3-5 year old rescued cat whose owners apparently didn’t take good care of it. It had such a bad case of ear mites the ear had to be removed.
Apparently the amputation was pretty new since the wound was still red. I’m considering adopting it but am nervous if it will have any other problems. The description on the cage said it’s in good health otherwise. Has anyone had this problem or heard of ear amputation because of ear mites? Is it possible that the cat still has some? Does any have or heard of a cat with one ear? If so, does it impair their mobility or activity? I don’t want to put my healthy cat and risk and I’m also wondering how my cat will react to a new one with one ear…
