I have a 14 year old, female, 4.5lb, pure bread Birman. She had two litters very young, damaged her hip jumping off a very high cabinet at about 5 years old, but other than that she has no known health problems. I feed her IAMs hairballs rememdy for adult cats and IAMs canned chicken and beef (vary by day).
She lived in an apartment in Arizona the last 10 years with a single man. She used to live with a male Birman who died just over a year ago. She just moved into my suburban Chicago condo past September and now lives with 3 females 19, 24 and 54.
She sleeps most of the day, but when she is awake she never stops meowing! All different sounds, lengths, pitches, everything. She won’t stop unless you sit and pet her for 10+minutes. She walks around meowing, goes into a room walks in a circle or two, walks back another way, all while meowing. Clean litter box, plenty of fresh water, soft food, and hard food. She is groomed regularly and never goes outside.
What on earth is going on?!

she really will go.
Going to vet again today but we cant afford it really.
The neighbors would be really happy to strangle her right now.
I can here her screaming even when shes not. Which is two percent of the time. max
You can see last post link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
Only now she has free run of the garage, with stacks of comfy spots to lay.
The vet gave her a clean bill of health. He said that with old cats they can get brain problems. yeah
She is 3kg and 13 yo
Nothing worked we give her 0.50 mg valium and a big meal just before bed. She meows all night and a 4am its real loud and none stop.
We tried the spray bottle hissing knocking on the head with a spoon. Valium and miscalculating so an over dose of valerian. haven’t tried melatonin but I cant see that being an stronger than valium. Nothing has worked. Ahhhhh
Anyone?

My cat meows too much. It wasn’t a problem before but now that I live with 3 roommates it’s starting to get embarressing and stressful. I can’t even go out into the living room to use my computer at early hours of the day without my cat whining and meowing so loud it wakes everyone up. He is always fed, has water and has no health problems…I think he does this just because he knows it gets my attention.
All day long he will constantly (and I mean CONSTANTLY) walk around me meowing and meowing and meowing….then he will leave for about 3 mins…get bored then come back to me. I can’t use the washroom, come out of the shower…make food for myself…without him meowing…and he always does these really long meows too…and sometimes he will meow so loud his voice cracks….because he gets so exciited about the idea I might give him attention.
PLUS…I have to leave my bedroom door open all night….if I don’t…he will meow his brains out, and try to open the door with his nails.
I have owned cats all my life but this has got to stop. I don’t know what to do. It’s effecting my stress levels and my life…and my roommates don’t like it either. We never hit him. I’ve had times where I threw water at him though, because either I was feeling sick or tired. The water thing makes him run for about 7 mins…and then he just comes out and starts meowing again!
Please help!

we have a 1yr old maine coon who howls and meows too much at night, it starts around 11pm and dosent stop till 6am
last night it was SO LOUD i couldnt even sleep. he just walks around and meows all night while the other cat sleeps. he will walk around and meow and howl and then start kneading whenever he can find a spot face, head, back, ribs
for some reason he is always getting bored, nothing seems to amuse him enough not going outside, not toys, not attention…because he is everyones baby
should i just open the door at night to let him out, both the cats go out cause i cannot keep them trapped inside all day
but this howling HAS TO STOP its too much. the only time he will not howl is if i let him outside even then he will get bored and come inside and start meowing again
i dont know what to do
he has no health problems
hes a very strong cat
