I’ll try to answer both questions – very different!
For dog health, it would be interesting to talk about the health issues in very tiny dogs. My aunt had a teacup poodle which had all sorts of problems that bigger dogs don’t normally have. The poor thing had a terrible bone fracture just from sliding across a wood floor and hitting a dresser.

For French, you need to think about why you are learning it, when/where you will speak it, and your favorite way to learn. There’s usually a class at a local college available, but you’re tied to their time schedule. There are lots of different programs for learning online, through software, or audio. It depends also on your budget. The best programs combine audio, visual (pictures and video), written words, and speech practice. There are also some websites online where you can learn a little French for free, which is a good way to get a taste of the language, but it won’t get you that far.

A few good French language courses to look at are Tell Me More French, Fluenz French, Rocket French (but there’s no visual), and Instant Immersion French (cheapest, but I haven’t tried it yet so I don’t know how good it is). Rosetta Stone is probably the most well-know, but overpriced in my opinion. Just don’t buy any program unless it has some kind of money-back guarantee.

Bonne chance!

Question by Nightwriter21: I miss a dog. I worry about caring for one now. What kind would be good for me at 63, poor health, no yard?
I’ve had 3 fine dogs but when my last one died practically in my arms from cancer I decided to wait to get another. Now I find that my condition, fibromyalgia, limits me at times. A new home with little place for a dog to go outside, plus a busy street to traverse for a block-and-a-half before reaching a good neighborhood to walk inhibits me from getting the dog I want. My dogs have been medium-sized with the last being an Australian shepherd. I’d like to get another, but realize that another breed might be best. I don’t like little yippy dogs. Thank you for your advice.

Question by kristina: Looking for health insurance for my dog. What companies are good. and are they legit?
I have 5 yr old female chihuahua

I always get the thumbs down for this (probably because Purina makes such crappy foods), but the Purina Care plan seems like the best to me:http://www.purinacare.com/plan_overview.aspx

VPI is probably the most popular, though. You may want to speak with your vet about which ones he/she has noticed cover the best. The thing I like about Purina Care is that they are the only one I have seen that actually covers genetic conditions (like hip dysplasia)…they don’t have such a long list of things that they WON’T pay for.

Question by Caryn s: Is the worm treatment at stores good to treat worms in your dog?
I found a puppy and posted him missing but he has worms and I didn’t plan to have a pet but I wont send him to one of hese animal places cause i think he has some pit in him and they kill the dogs after a month ot two. So i am looking to keep the dog health and in good shape. The wormers that you buy in the store are really not effective. You can take a stool sample to the Vet so they can determine the proper treatment for the type of worm. Tell the Vet office that you found the dog eating from the trash can in your yard, and you just want to do what is right for the dog. Some Vets will give you a big discount under these circumstances.
