Question by Bluengreen: Can a Dachshund dog eat lettuce with no ill effect on its health?
My two year old Dachshund gobbled up some lettuce I had dropped while making a sandwich. I’d never seen seen him eat lettuce before. Now, I’m mildly concerned he could get sick. Help!

Question by Tini: Does invisible fence have bad effect on the dog’s health?
We have a 10 month jack russell, and we are currently looking for a house. Our requirement is a fenced yard, but nowadays newer subdivision does not allow fencing your yard anymore. We were told to use invisible fence as an option, but doesn’t that shock your dog? And for a stubborn dog like mine (but he’s awesome… ) – I’m afraid he’s gonna get shocked a lot and I don’t know if it’s a good idea.

The big mistake people make when using underground fences is not training the dog where their boundary is…They just put it in the ground, put the collar on the dog and let them go…That is not good…some dogs learn this way what their boundaries are…but it makes alot of dogs fearful to go outside because they don’t connect that the shock is because they have gone too far…Pretty much you set up the flags and then teach the dog not to get near them…so on and so forth…the fences usually come with training instructions

My dog seems to suffer from regular bouts with diarrhea even though we are reasonably sure she is not ingesting anything that would make her sick. Are there any other chronic ailments that would cause this?
