(see my previous question for more info)… I posted a question earlier today regarding peoples opinions on karma, as I’m having a pretty bad time of it lately with depression and also some physical health problems.
Now for the crazy part! – I mentioned that the family pets have been quite ill and I received an answer that the pets may be passing their illnesses onto myself via their saliva!!! The dog has a serious prostate problem (I’m pretty sure as a female, I don’t actually have one of those!)
Anyone else heard anything so daft? Or had equally daft answers to their questions?

My family is currently owned by 3 dogs- a 2 year old Chihuahua mix, a 4 year old Bichon Frise/Yorkie mix, and a 7 year old Bichon Frise. We feed them Kibbles N’ Bits, and always have. It just occurred to me recently that the food we feed is probably not the best. Since my dogs are getting elderly, especially the Bichon Frise, I think it’s time that we start feeding them a better quality dog food to prevent future health problems. I’ve heard mixed reviews and Purina dog food, but I also saw an advertisement today for Pedigree dog food that said they would donate a sum of their profits to an animal shelter.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of kibble I should be feeding my dogs, or what kind of food (that’s not overly expensive) is the best quality, but can also be found at pet stores? I would prefer that it’s main ingredient is a meaty substance, NOT CORNMEAL!
Thanks!

My dog had an infection from getting neutered. It was very bad. He had to be on strong antibiotics for 10 days in the middle of March. Now he had an allergic reaction to the meds given for a hurt leg and chewed his paws. One of his paws became an open sore and infected. So now he has to be on antibiotics again. So a month later, another 10 days of antibiotics. Does this do long-term damage? Or do the intestines repair themselves quickly? He is three years old. Only 15 lbs. If I give him yogurt will it help reverse what the antibiotics are doing to his intestines? (he has had yogurt before, he likes it and digest it well..that is not a problem) But does it help?

I have worked with animals a lot and I have my own opinion on this, but I’d like input from some other people. We are considering getting a dog. I have always gotten shelter pets and generally prefer mixed breeds for health and personality issues, so I’d also like to know what breed mix might be best. Here’s what the ideal dog would be: small to medium sized dog with a big dog personality, great with kids and other pets, very trainable, playful and active, but not hyper, a breed that doesn’t have a history of health problems.

MY COUSIN HAS HAD HER CHIHUAHUA FOR 8 YEARS. THE DOG HAS NEVER HAD ANY HEALTH PROBLEMS. THEN ON SATURDAY THE DOG STARTED SCRATCHING REALLY BAD. MY COUSIN GAVE HER A BATH THINKING SHE HAD GOTTEN INTO SOMETHING IN THE GRASS THAT WAS IRRITATING HER. THE BATH DID NOT HELP. ON SUNDAY WHEN SHE WOKE UP THE DOG WAS LITERALLY PANTING FROM WEARING HER SELF OUT SCRATCHING SO BAD. WHEN MY COUSIN RETURNED HOME FROM CHURCH THE DOG WAS DEAD. THE ONLY SYMPTOM WAS HER SCRATCHING. CAN YOU GIVE ANY ADVICE AS TO WHAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED THIS?
THANK YOU
