Hello. I am a first time cat owner and have 2 cats for about 2 months now. One is 7-month male and the other is 8-month female. I have been feeding them different brands of dry cat foods until just recently realizing that it’s a very bad thing to do. But they didn’t seem to have any problem before when they were on Nutro, Nature’s Best, and then Purina One. (Only once the girl threw up but I suspected it was just eating too fast.)
Then couple of weeks ago I started feeding them with IAMS dry food for kittens and the stuff sucked big time. I have read some bad reviews about it but didn’t mind trying it but I seriously regret now. The cats started having really really smelly soft poos and for the past week, one of them (or both) has thrown up twice. (I am not home during the day so it’s a little hard to tell who threw up.) I knew the little girl is picky on her food, she would stop after a few bites and crouched on the floor for a bit before going back to her plate, but the poo/puke problem didn’t happen with the other brands.
There was also crazy shedding recently.
So I decided that I must change again. Couple days ago, I starting feeding them Wellness Kitten Health dry food mixed with tiny portion of IAMS, with occasional Fancy Feast wet food. They both loved the new diet, especially the girl. But one threw up again today and not much improvement on the poos. I am gonna stop giving food for a day and then start slow with only Wellness to see if that’s gonna improve.
My question is how long would it take for the cats to adapt to their new diet? The Wellness may be too nutritious and hard for them, but I really do not want to give them the IAMS again.
They are active, drink, eat and play just like normal. Just the diet change concerns me a little. Could the IAMS give them any allergies or other illness I should be aware of?
Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I think they’re both so cute but I can’t decide!!! I can’t have a yorkie because they have 2 many health problems. Which dog has more health problems from my choice? And can a shih tzu get sick if your away from them for a while? And when you choose the dog tell me why.

I have a 13 year old spayed female long haired ragdoll cat that apparently has taken a dislike to the bathroom rug. She rips at it all the time, urinates on it, wads it up at least 6 times a day and even screams at it during the night. I have washed it repeatedly with all types of cleaners and she still does it. Do I need to just throw it out? WHY does she do this? What would be the reason? It is nutty behavior and is it a sign of a problem she may have? She shares the house with two other cats and they have all been together for all of their lives. She seems to be in good health.

Hey! Well my family is letting me get a dog! I was supposed to get one for Christmas but I wasnt 100 % sure which dog best suits me. I’m looking for a small sized dog (ex: the size of a maltese, shih-tzu, yorkie) But i’ve noticed that small dogs can easily die or break their bones if they are home alone for a certain time. And I go to school, my parents work, and my sister is in college. So i’ll just skim this up for you.
Any dog that is…
Small
Doesnt Shed
Gets along with other house pets (i have 1 cat!)
Doesnt have ’seperation anxiety’
Isnt VERY yappy or snappy
Doesnt have as many health problems ( i know all dogs do, but not like easily bone breaking dogs)
Is okay with 10-30 minutes of excercise everday

at the shelter he was treated for worms, ringworm, fleas, and earmites. he acts fine. the poop is like long strings of pudding, and i am used to seeing cats make “tootsie rolls” if you know what i mean! problem is that he steps in it as he turns in his cat box to cover it up…i have been feeding eagle brand dry food..hairball formula. with a tblsp of friskies wet in am and pm. when i stopped the wet it didnt make a difference. i just bouth science diet i/d (intestinal formula) on the advice of a friend. i will take him in to the vet again, but i wanted to try some home remedies first. he has been throughly checked recently and had no health issues. also i tried giving him a probiotic in his food for 2 weeks…no better. any ideas??
