Dogs are carnivores...period. There is no need for veggies...that would make them omnivores.
Raw meat is what they were made to eat. Unlike cooked meat, which loses all nutritional value and is a HUGE danger to their systems in terms of the brittle bones which may break and sliver, causing damage, raw meat, bones and organs are the optimal food for our furkids.
And, yes, k***le and canned food contain all sorts of things our dogs do not need: fruits, vegetables, grains, seasonings, and the fat which is contained in them is from rendering plants, which accept dead animals--think roadkill, euthanized animals complete with all medications and flea collars, 4D animals (google that for what it means)...all sorts of horrors.
I switched my dogs and cat to raw and have enjoyed the improvement in their overall appearance, health, energy, contentment, even less excrement from the food being digested so completely...the only regret I have is not doing this years ago.
Cost can be kept down by seeking out buying clubs, feed suppliers, sales, hunters...the list goes on and on.
There are thousands who belong to one of many Yahoo groups who rawfeed...the testimonies are amazing.

You're looking at the wrong dog foods.
Look up Innova, California Natural, Wellness, Canidae, and Artemis.
They have all natural ingredients, no fillers, low/no grain, and you can pronounce all of the ingredients.
Dry dog food is kibble.
Wet dog food is canned.
I really recommend Canidae.
My older dog started to slow down and I thought it was due to old age. I read "Foods Pets Die For" by Ann N. Martin and was shocked and amazed, like you are now, and switched food.
The difference was amazing!!
From day 1, she perked up, had more energy, her eyes cleared up, her poops got smaller, she's never had another ear infection. She gets excited when I bring a new bag home, and does the "happy puppy dance" when I feed her.
All in all, I'm very happy with Canidae.

Dogs are carnivores, so a diet--if you can afford it, of raw meat products is best. Some people can't stand to feed their dog raw meat, and they prefer to cook it. Either way,,this is heathiest.

Raw food such as meats are unsafe. They can carry salmonella virus and be potentially deadly. Raw veggies and fruits such as carrots and pineapple are a good source of vitamin C and D for your 4 legged friends. Good foods for their daily diets should include things like rice, cooked hamburger or liver, and gravy. Cooked carrots and potatoes are also a healthy substitute for dog food.

i had my older dog on 'premium' kibble for years resulting in obesity, fatty tumors & loss of skin pigment all of which i attributed to old age. then, due to some immune system problems in my younger dog, i put them both on a grain-free raw diet. i saw such huge improvements, for both of them, in a very short time i haven't looked back! to be honest raw diets are a little more expensive & not as convenient as picking up a bag at the pet store. but it's well worth it to me to see my dogs happier & healthier than they ever were on dry food.
