My cat has patches of fur missing. We feed her Purina naturals so I don’t think it is a nutritional problem and as far as I know there are no other cats around that are picking on her. She doesn’t show any other signs of ill health, she just has bald patches.

Your cat may have ringworm which will cause the hair to fall out. Another cause can be allergies. One of the worst causes of allergies is an allergy to fish. Check your cat food and make sure it has no fish byproducts in it. Hills pet food is the least likely to have fish by-products in it.

one of my cats had this last year and she lost her fur in bald patches on her hind legs. when I took her to the vet she gave her a steroid injection and told me that although she didn’t have fleas at the time because i had treated her for fleas that she had an allergic reaction to flea bites. within 2 weeks of visiting the vet her fur started to grow back. the allergy made her itch and by over grooming to relieve the itch she lost her fur.

It is possible it is a food allergy. One of my fathers cats can only eat lamb based food. It has reactions to a least 3 types of foods that it gets rashes and bald spots from. One of the foods is cheese which she loves and smells from a mile away. Just cause she loves it doesn’t mean it is good for her. Another of his had spring time seasonal allergies.

Okay, you did not specify if this is an indoor or outdoor cat. If she goes outside, there may be a number of things that could have happened to her. Perhaps she got in a cat fight with another cat or caught a disease… Either which way, it would not hurt to take her to the vet to get examined.
