Posted by: Alan in Cat Health Problem, tags: Bones, Cat's, Feed, Feel, Gotten, Like, Sudden, That, Thin, Very
hes always been a thin cat but now within a matter of a few weeks he’s just became like bone thin. We were on vacaation during those weeks but we left him plenty of food and water and he even had some left when we got home. He is 2 years old. hes never had a problem like this before or any health problems. im really worried about him so any advice will help like will this go away, do i need to bring him to a vet, or what foods are safe to give him that will help him gain weight fast. Oh and he is an outdoor cat if that means anything.
thank you so much!!

You should take him to a vet. Weight loss, particularly sudden weight loss, can be a sign of problems. It could be he’s picked up something.
Also, you should keep him indoors. Indoor cats live MUCH longer than outdoor cats. Ask your vet.

Hon, he was abandoned during” Those weeks away”, It doesn’t matter if you left food; he missed his owners and did not eat. That’s why food was left. Now, you have a sick cat. Take him to the vet for blood build up. Really, I’m not trying to criticize, but pets panic when you leave them . They become too sad and afraid . I learned my lesson the hard way years ago.

thats not good! sorry to hear that about your cat!! my cat is also bone thin and is 3 years old. i have taken him to the vet about this issue to learn that he has allergies. and now it may look like he may have kidney failure.
so what i reccomend is get him to the vet ASAP and have him tested by blood work. he can have a number of things wrong. i wouldn’t say that because you we’re gone for 2 weeks or whatever on vacation had anything to do with this. Also, you will have to keep him inside while going through treatment/blood work or whatever will happen in the future for the simple fact that he can/may contract something else in the process.
i really hope this helps out and good luck!

Take him to the vet he needs help. Because you Left for two weeks he could have missed you as well. I hope you had someone to look in on him so he wasn’t all alone.

If you don’t normally go on vacation,(especially for that long of a period) your cat is most likely experiencing some depression . The cat didn’t know why he was left alone, if he would see you again and wheres my regular little dinner? I suggest lots ,I mean LOTS of love & high protein food.

He needs checked out by a vet, outdoors harbors many diseases. Try tuna until he can get to the vet.

Kitty needs a vet…rapid weight loss isn’t necessarily a diet issue. It could be thyroid issues which require medication. There are all kinds of things that could cause weight loss. Parasites, poisoning, illness…outdoor cats are more vulnerable to all of these problems.

Please take him to the vet. This is a health issue not an issue on what your feeding him.

he might have gotten worms; take him to the vet and you will have him checked up and if that’s it then simple meds will take care of it. (have you seen any little piles or bits of stuff that looks like…. spaghetti is the best way to describe them although it’s gross.. if so that’s worms.)
even if you doubt that, take him to the vet.

Rapid weight loss in the last 2 weeks has nothing to do with what you are feeidng him or what you are not feeding him. Your bundle needs to get to the vet for blood work and an unrine analysis. This is a health issue, not a diet issue.

You need to geth this little one to a vet fast. Sudden and rapid weighloss can be a symptom for many things. We could guess at many things and all of us be wrong.
It maybe something very simple, but it maybe something major. The sooner you know the problem the sooner you can start to put it right.
Good luck!
