Do You Think Milk Is Healthy?
Posted by: Alan in Cat Health Problem, tags: Healthy, Milk, Think
Recently I read some very alarming information about milk. There are numerous articles about how humans are the only species to drink milk besides cats and how it can actually hinder your calcium absorption because of the high amount of protein. Search for yourself to see. There are many people around the world who do not make dairy part of their diets and get calcium from plant sources, yet they have a much lower amount of people getting osteoporosis. I also read that the milk industry puts so many chemicals in the pasturization process that could cause additional health problems. Then I found articles about actual pus being in milk, that there is a pus count that the dairy industry does and every cup of milk contains millions of these pus molecules and if there are more than 2 million per some amount they aren’t supposed to sell it. Discusting! I am not a vegan or vegetarian and I am not trying to spread some argument I believe in but I am trying to find out the truth.

My mom is a nutritionist and she says that cow milk and other kinds of milk are not healthy. She says that animal milk isn’t meant for humans and it is hard to digest. Also milk has a lot of fat and hormones. Cows are often given antibiotcs too which can cause problems. Cows have a lot of cysts which mean that there is a lot of puss in the milk, and finally when milk is pasturized it removes all the nutrients(why they fortify it) and therefor there really isn’t a nutritional value for milk.

Milk is very good for you because of the protein and calcium. If you don’t care for it then get your calcium via other products like cheese or other dairy products. Yes they do a bacteria count on milk but they do it right at the dairy farmers barn. If the count is too high they don’t accept his milk until his count is in acceptable range. Since we all have things like staph bacteria and MRSA bacteria in our bodies all the time I would not worry so much about the milk and what it contains for bacteria as a high count milk will not be accepted by the dairy that makes the milk. As for additives etc yes that is probably very true but have you ever read the box or can of things on your shelf in your pantry or in the grocery store. What about the cleaning products you use? Most of them are registered pesticides yet you still clean your house with them and breathe in the fumes and vapors and touch the surfaces that you just cleaned with them. Even shampoo, cosmetics and other products have harmful ingredients in them but you apply them to your skin every day and the chemicals are absorbed through your skin into your blood stream. Look at the whole picture before you decide to not drink milk.

Healthy? I don’t know about that.
Gross? That’s for sure.
Why, in their right mind, would anyone want to drink something that came from a cow?
P.S. I’m no where near a vegan, either.

There is really no reason to continue drinking milk. Just make sure to include other foods that contain calcium. Beans, almonds, sardines, dark green leafy vegetables are some good examples. The conditions cows are in can’t lead to good wholesome milk product anyways. In addition you have the antibiotics, steroids, and all the other things given to the cows that make it into the milk.
I gave up drinking milk a few years ago and no longer get ear and sinus infections like I regularly got.

Hi, what you have heard and read is wrong.
what is right is that it can hinder calcium absorption but it happens only in one conditon-
If you drink fresh milk and dont boil it before drinking then there is albumin in milk that can produce osmotic diarrhoea and can lead to malabsorption of all other nutrients.
but it doesnt happen with nonfat, pasturised milks.
about that pus thing is totally wrong. if milk is contaminted then it may have bacteria but it is not pus.

where do I begin? milk is bad for you. Besides all the harmful chemicals and hormones they inject the cows with and add to the milk, our bodies don’t need to consume milk. If you’re worried about the calcium, you can eat carrots or drink carrot juice(preferably organic carrots, they’re not expensive). If you don’t want to eliminate milk from your diet, you can drink organic raw milk; found at Whole Foods or Wild Oats.
Even if they didn’t add all that crap to the milk. If you drink pasteurized milk, it does not do your body any good. when they heat up the milk at a really high temperature to kill bacteria, it also kills the good enzymes. plus your body is design to kill any bacteria that enters the body. Now for you Homogenized milk drinkers. Homogenization is when they spin the milk and the cream that sits on top of the milk, at a really high speed that the particles become very small and sharp. when these particles travel through your blood stream, they scar your arteries.Additional info.: Also a lot of chlorinated water scars your arteries. scared arteries + cholesterol = high cholesterol
high cholesterol + lowering cholesterol pill = heart attack.
I hope I was of some help.

Yes. It is healthy.

ask the cow , it knows .

I think it is in small amounts. If you’re a Christian the bible allows it, so most people are tense on ruling it out.

Milk began containing differing amounts of fat during the 1950s. A serving (1 cup or 250 ml) of 2%-fat milk contains 285 mg of calcium, which represents 22% to 29% of the daily recommended intake (DRI) of calcium for an adult. Depending on the age, 8 grams of protein, and a number of other nutrients (either naturally or through fortification):
Vitamins D and K are essential for bone health.
Iodine is a mineral essential for thyroid function.
Vitamin B12 and riboflavin are necessary for cardiovascular health and energy production, and B12 is difficult to get outside of animal products or else as supplemental pills.
Biotin and pantothenic acid are B vitamins important for energy production.
Vitamin A is critical for immune function.
Potassium and magnesium are for cardiovascular health.
Selenium is a cancer-preventive trace mineral.
Thiamine is a B-vitamin important for cognitive function, especially memory
Conjugated linoleic acid is a beneficial fatty acid that inhibits several types of cancer in mice, it has been shown to kill human skin cancer, colorectal cancer and breast cancer cells in vitro studies, and may help lower cholesterol and prevent atherosclerosis; only available in milk from grass-fed cows.
Studies show possible links between low-fat milk consumption and reduced risk of arterial hypertension, coronary heart disease, and obesity. Overweight individuals who drink milk may benefit from decreased risk of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
Interestingly, a study has shown that for women currently desiring to have a child, women who consume full fat dairy products may actually slightly increase their fertility, while women consuming low fat dairy products may slightly reduce their fertility through interference in ovulation, however studies in this area are still inconsistent.
Nutritional/physiological detriments
The following additional issues are often cited as warranting consideration:
Lactose intolerance, discussed below.
Milk that has not received a fat content reduction is rich in saturated fat and cholesterol, which numerous sources have suggested as contributing to an increased risk of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease when consumed in excessive quantity. Low-fat and non-fat forms of milk may mitigate this risk[citation needed].
Cow milk allergy (CMA) is as an immunologically mediated adverse reaction to one or more cow’s milk proteins. Rarely is it severe enough to cause death.
Milk from contaminated or heavily polluted areas can contain high levels of toxic compounds that have bioaccumulated into it. The nuclear power plant disaster at Chernobyl in Ukraine spread a cloud of radioactivity that ended up in the milk supply and many animals had to simply be killed. The contamination spread across many areas of Europe and affected the dairy industries and even milk as far away as the United States had detectable levels of contamination. As well through the principle of bioaccumulation, herbicides and pesticides can accumulate in milk, and organic milk produced without chemicals has become one of the most popular organic products that people choose.
There is some debate concerning the amount of calcium from milk that is actually absorbed by the human body.
Several sources suggest a correlation between high calcium intake (2000 mg per day, or twice the US recommended daily allowance, equivalent to six or more glasses of milk per day) and prostate cancer. A large study specifically implicates dairy. A review published by the World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer Research states that at least eleven human population studies have linked excessive dairy product consumption and prostate cancer,[citation needed] however randomized clinical trial data with appropriate controls only exists for calcium, not dairy produce, where there was no correlation.

all that is true that’s why i am a vegan its discusting that theres pus and scabs in milk and milk can lead to osteoporosis the very thing it is supposed to prevent

milk is good for you and it helps in losing weight=perhaps that is why there is so much stuff in it=if you ask a Dr they will tell you to drink 1% milk as it is better for you
