Ok my dog Bella (boxxer) is the best, she is seriously the best dog, she is hilarious okay, and she has so much energy and she is amazing. I got a new apartment and I left Bella with my parents, when I came to see her she had dry spots all over her fur and she was so happy to see me, I mean she was going crazy. I took her to the vet and they said she may have a thyroid problem and thats why she’s getting dry patches all over her fur. There is a huge change in her energy since I’ve been gone and she is not the same… do you think she may be depressed or something since I left her?

  1. i <3 books says:

Dogs can go through a depression when their owners leave it’s called separation anxiety. You should have your parents take her to the vet. When owners do that they don’t realize you have to do it a little at a time and not just thrust them into a new situation … it will cause them stress. You should still take her to a qualified vet.

How do you know it’s not hypothyroidism? You can’t tell by just looking at the dog. A simple blood test will tell you whether your vet is correct or not, rather than guessing. If you’re not right and your dog is hypothyroid, you’re risking her health over the cost of a test and inexpensive daily medication. http://americanboxerclub.org/purina3.htm…http://www.2ndchance.info/doghypothyroid…

The thyroid problem will cause the dry spots on her and she is probably experiencing “separation anxiety” by you leaving her with your parents. In addition, she may not be getting the exercise that she needs. Your parents may not be playing with her as much as you did-if at all-so she is getting lazy! And dogs do get depressed!!

    NO.
Low thyroid is a PHYSICAL problem-period.
“low energy & bad coat are” CLASSIC signs of low thyroid -which is EASILY DIAGNOSED *&* EASILY & CHEAPLY TREATED!!!
