Question by cookies_like_milk123: To all people who know somewhat about dog health…?
How does a rottwhieler-collie mix do in:
health,
grooming,
families,
size,
life span,
and LOVE!

Best answer:

Answer by ozfozz
Rottweiler*

Depends on the lines of the parents of the dog when it comes to health.
Likely poorly bred = High possibility of poor health
Depends, rough collie or smooth collie?
Families…what do you mean?
Size would be somewhere in between the standard for a rottie and a collie.
Lifespan would be again in between the two breeds.

i’m not too sure about rottweilers but collies are very friendly and playful and love families

    Really no way to know.

You are asking about a mix and no two mixes are the same.

Only purebreds breed true so that is only the way to know.

Just research both breeds and go from there…..hopefully the dog will have the good qualities from both breeds

Rottweilers usually live from 8 to 12 years depending on how well they are cared for. They can have some hip and joint problems and sometimes coat issues. Grooming should be pretty easy for a rotty coat… bruch it once a day and if your rotty is easy going like mine…wip out the vacuume and vaccume him/her. They are great family pets! As for the collie part…. I dont know. Good luck with your new puppy. Hope this helped some.

It all depends on the individual dog & how good or bad his genetics are. What his temperament is. How you condition him to do the things you want him to do. Most any dog will do anything to please you.

It’s impossible to predict those things in a mixed breed dog.

  6. Mutt for the Truth says:

There is no breed standard for a “mutt” dog so we couldn’t begin to tell you anything about one. I could have a *rottweiler*/collie mix that’s perfectly healthy and sound of temperament… but you could end up with a dog that has a poor temperament and hip dysplasia.

Generally speaking a mutt dog will not be as well bred as a purebred from a reputable breeder: not to say they can’t make excellent pets, but you just can’t predict anything. There are two breeds to inherit from, which make prediction even harder. It’s a crapshoot, sort of like gambling or rolling a dice.

People who breed mutts do so for profit, which means their breeding stock will NOT be tested for genetic diseases. Their breeding stock will also not meet breed standard which means physical appearance, general health, conformation, temperament, etc will not follow any set path. Combine the two and you won’t get a predictable outcome.

If you want a mutt, adopt. I would guess (based on the traits of each breed) a mix like this COULD be a high energy, dominant animal with a strong prey drive that could possibly become possessive or aggressive without the proper exercise, handling, or training.

My answer would of been like “ozfozz” ’s .. =)
    By families, they do good.
If you mean like, if they are sociable..
Rottweiler is how you spell it.. God bless!
