How Do I Make Life More Fulfilling?

school, sleep, computer work etc. It never ends ![]()
Help! I’m stuck in a routine from hell! I’m 23, live w/ my parents and am losing my mind!
I’m sort of a workoholic cuz it keeps my mind off other stuff such as:
My dog is sick.
Family health problems.
Work problems.
Girl problems.
Barely any social life.
Any clubs or groups I can join to meet more people and get more involved?
Any activities I can do to relieve stress or get my mind off these damn things!?

You need to get out of your rut, and a sure way of doing it is to find something you are interested in and volunteer. By volunteering you are not under the same pressure as when employed, you will meet people who honestly share a love for the same thing you do, and MOST important you are giving something to someone, or your community, that will truly make a difference. By surrounding yourself in a positive atmosphere you will relax and be a happier person, your troubles with life will shrink and you will not only be a better person, but a wiser one. Get out and discover life, there is a whole world out there that you have not experienced.

Just about any exercise can help mitigate stress, and the more fun the activity, the more likely it will help.
Certain activities, like bicycling, tend to have groups or clubs that form around them, but if you choose something you enjoy, and there are girls there, at least one or two of your other issues might resolve themselves therein. And being involved in a group or club might also help your work issue by providing some networking.
Hang in there, these things tend to resolve themselves with a few more years under your belt.

It sounds like you are in a really difficult season of your life, and I can surely relate to that! While you’re dealing with reality, TV says that your early 20’s are supposed to be the time of your life!
Here’s the deal: you are in winter. What is winter? It’s a time of lots of work, lots of struggle, lots of heartache, and not seeing much come to fruition. But deep under the soil, great things are happening. You can’t see it, but it’s coming to fruition. Through your struggles, your character is growing. Through your trials on the job, you’re seeing how resilient you are. Through your lonely social life – or lack thereof – you’re getting to know yourself better. The health problems in your family and with your dog are reminding you of how much you love and appreciate them.
First, you must resolve, if you have not already, to have at least one day of the week during which you rest. Have fun, don’t work, do what you want to do. It’s your day. No matter how broke you are, you are never too broke to have a day of rest.
About living with your family- it is much better than getting in debt with an apartment or house you can’t pay for. I know a young couple who did this- they bought a house, and then they couldn’t afford to pay for it, so they let it foreclose and go back to the bank. Foreclosure on both of their credit reports- bad place to be in. You’re saving money, and that’s a good thing.
As for clubs and groups, what about church? Go on the internet and see what churches are nearby. Surely there is a cool one nearby, with a large amount of people you can meet. That’s a huge part of making the mundane life more worthwhile- having friends to make it worthwhile. What about a local gym? You can help yourself stay in shape and meet some people in the process. Plus, the good hormones will give you a rush and pull you out of depression, at least for a little while. You can also browse the newspaper’s cultural section for different activities, like community theatre and other things.
Above all, remember, this season will not last forever. It will get better. Winter always seems long, but it will eventually turn to spring, and something beautiful will blossom.

You seem to only focus on negative things. Try volunteering at the local animal shelter-it is awesome! Trust me-I know.

I got tired of having a routine. I then found out about myself that I’m addicted to having an adrenaline rush. Do out of the ordinary things, sky dive, pick up a physical sport, do things that you know that will get your blood pumping.
