Alright, so I might be a little overcautious in asking this, but is it safe to let a new puppy interact with my other pets?
The puppy will not be vaccinated or dewormed yet, but I will get the first shot done and start deworming as soon as possible. I currently own a rabbit, two rats, and a budgie. None have ever had any health problems. My rabbit has only been outside a few times. Still, is it possible/likely for any viruses to be passed between them?
To be safe, I think I will isolate the puppy in my mother’s room at first. I won’t bother introducing it to the bird, but I’d like to at least try and socialize my other pets with the puppy. Anybody have any tips on that? My rabbit and rats have been socialized together already.
And for reference, I don’t actually have the puppy yet, nor I am I one hundred percent sure I’ll be taking it. It’s a collie/Toller cross, and has already been exposed to cats, so hopefully has some sense of interacting with small animals.

If you decide to get your puppy i would say to keep him/her away from the rats. They can transmit parasites to your puppy. I also have two ferrets and a 4 month old puppy. As soon as my vet told me the possibility of transmitting parasites to my dog through my ferrets i separated them as soon as i got home. Good Luck with your new addition!

it should be okay to introduce him to the other pets but give him and the others a safe retreat just in case there is a problem.sense you wil be starting his trips to the vet soon i don’t think there is much to worry about.
but do remember he will be bigger than them.
    good luck and congratulations.
