Due to my pom, Sam-2 years old, and his sprain. Our bet is that he is over weight and those extra pounds put too much pressure on his body, pulling somthing. Now I will stress a check up (And I think I’m winning),
but to help his weight problem, all of my family has to change..
I know WE have to stop throwing them scraps and giving them too many treats. And we are going to Wal-Mart asap to buy bowls for each along with a health bed and diet food. But our only snag is, how much do we feed a pom that age (he and his sister are the same age). And what can we do with them that helps them exercise that’s easy for us to do with them?
Plus, the same question goes for my cat. Spoiled rotten cat whos around 3 years old and eats dog food? (I know, I have strange animals)
I thank you all previously with the answers that you give

A proper diet contains proper nutrition. With proper nutrition there should be no over weight or under. Here’s a link to check out…click on products and than dog food dry or raw and same with the cats. It has good info on healthy food and how much to feed. Do not feed diet food. It can be lacking the fat, protein etc. that they need for their nutritional requirements. http://www.tailblazerspets.com/
Excercise can even be a light walk around the block.

my dog eats my cat’s food, and there’s nothing you can really do about that. they’ll sneak behind your back to get the other ones food
one thing you can do is buy iams, it’s sold at the local grocery store and wal mart
i guess you could say it’s quite on the expensive side, 8-16 dollars but i have heard it’s well worth it.
also just keep on taking your dog out for walks, 3-4 times a day
weather he has to go or not

I assume a Pom is a Pommeranian, thus a dog?
It is important to realise that cats are not dogs and so they have different dietary requirements.
Raw is the best diet for our carnivorous companion animals, whether they be cats or dogs! A balanced diet contains muscle, organs and bones; people add supplements when making their own. People who are afraid of our cats or dogs eating their natural diet should read the links below as this is the most natural and healthy way to feed a pet. This will prevent obesity and related diseases such as diabetes later on in life, as well as skin irritations (such as hotspots), poor coat and irritable bowel. People who think it is not the best way to feed pets because pets are resisting the new food are probably unaware of the high levels of smell and flavour enhancers in commercial cat food. These flavour and smell enhancers are there because the base product is inpalatable for cats- it is essentially meal, offcuts & starches. Cats should not be ingesting carbohydrates.
A quality ground raw food such as felines pride will meet all your cat’s dietary requirements and the improvement in physical condition (fur, weight control, playfulness) and disease prevention will make it be best decision you make for your cat. There are also recipes for making your own cat food (www.catinfo.org). Please note that this is the ONLY way you will ever control what your cat eats. Given the petfood contamination scandals, this has a raised profile for many people. I am not up to date on dogs, but there are many BARF diets out there for them.

have you had your dog checked by a vet to find out exactly what is wrong with him? also to find out if he really is overweight? as far as buying food from wal mart or any other grocery store; dont. any food that is sold at a grocery store isnt worth the bag that it is put in. foods that contain corn, wheat, or by products are very low quality foods. high quality foods include california natural, wellness, solid gold, prairie, pinnacle, innova, evo, and canidae just to name a few. separate your dogs when feeding them. dont free feed. feed them according to the feeding guide line on the back of the bag and adjust accordingly. if you dont leave the dog food out, you wont run the risk of your dogs over eating or your cat eating the dog food. cats have different nutritional requirements than dogs.
