I have had my cat for over a year and I have never had any problems with him using the litterbox. tonight, i found that he had peed on both of the bathroom rugs (conveniently located right outside of this litter box). Some sites suggest that he might have a urinary problem. However, about a week ago I gave him his first bath in that bathroom (he’s been having a shedding problem for the first time as well). Is he just being vindictive (a week later) or should I be questioning his health?

Did you change litters? Did you move his box? Is the box CLEAN?

you should be questioning his health, if he’s normally good about using the litterbox. my female cat suddenly started going in places other than the box, and she had always been the best cat about using the box. it turned out she had both a bladder infection and crystals in her bladder. in a male cat this can be especially dangerous, since the crystals can cause a blockage. take him to the vet as soon as you can.

I would have to agree that some illness has struck him and it could possibly be urinary tract infection.Cats get this and it hurts so badly and more when they pee so they think litter box =PAIN AND WILL GO ANYWHERE BUT IN THE BOX.I would get him for a check up and his shedding just starting like that is really odd as well.I bet when you get baby to the vet and he runs a test or 2 it’s going to be the U.T.I. and something that’s making her hair fall out.Well good luck and please get your cat to the vet asap and i know the pee on rugs will be a thing of the past..
